Chinese singer Jin Sha, 42, has gone public with her relationship with actor Sun Cheng Xiao, 23, and the couple are already considering marriage.

In a recent post on Weibo, Jin Sha announced that she and Sun are participating in the latest season of Viva La Romance – a variety show featuring celebrity couples who embark on a journey to strengthen their relationship.

During their appearance on the show, Sun – who had just graduated from the Shanghai Theatre Academy – said that he was unfazed by the 19-year age gap and asserted his ability to make decisions for himself.

“I’ve been independent since I was 18. To me, this is right. I want to prove that I love her and that her choice is right,” he said, as quoted by Singapore news portal 8days.

Meanwhile, Jin Sha – also known as Kym – said that she doesn’t care about what others think of their relationship.

The singer added that half of her friends envied her for having a gentle and thoughtful younger partner while the other half believed that she was “idealistic” and should be more level-headed.

Despite the age gap, Jin Sha has always envisioned a future with Sun – who she felt was an ideal husband.

“He’s a little young to be getting married so early but there’s no other choice. There aren’t many good men available on the market. They will be snatched up early,” she said.

Regarding their participation in Viva La Romance, the singer said it will not only bring them a step closer to marriage but also offer a chance to showcase to the public Sun’s positive traits.

“My relationship with (Sun) is going smoothly. I want to show everyone that my boyfriend is really good,” she added.

According to 8days, Jin Sha and Sun reportedly met on the set of the 2021 Douyin drama, Appraiser Of Love, in which they play lovers.

Jin Sha made her debut as an actress in the 2003 drama Sky and released her debut album Air in 2005. She gained popularity that same year for her duet with Singaporean singer JJ Lin, The Wind Over The Summer.
