Golden Screen Cinemas (GSC), in partnership with Alliance Bank, has launched Kuala Lumpur's newest boutique cinema, Velvet, at Retail Park 163, Mont Kiara.

Velvet said in a statement that the cinema, conceptualised by GSC, draws inspiration from retro cinema in the 1960s and reimagines retro cinematic experiences, complete with vibrant food and beverage offerings and lifestyle offerings.

With a total of 163 seats over three halls, Velvet will showcase a dedicated line-up of arthouse films, well-loved cult classics, foreign films and Hollywood blockbusters.

The launch of Velvet reiterates GSC's commitment to bringing exciting concepts to the market, particularly within an untapped area with high potential, chief executive officer of GSC, Koh Mei Lee said.

"The launch of Velvet provides us with an opportunity to showcase a range of content, from art-house films to cult classics to Hollywood blockbusters, for audiences to enjoy. The launch of Velvet marks a milestone for us, with more exciting launches to look forward to in 2024,” she added.
