The mother of late Hong Kong actress Kathy Chow has allegedly put up her daughter’s mansion in Beijing for sale, Oriental Daily reported.

According to the publication, the luxurious residence in China spans over 500 square metres and is valued at approximately 30mil yuan (RM19.3mil).

The news sparked speculation among netizens, with some raising eyebrows at the timing of the sale shortly after Chow’s passing on Dec 11.

In response to the allegations, the real estate agency said the decision to sell the mansion was due to financial considerations rather than eagerness to earn a quick buck.

It added that Chow’s mum and her family have been residing in Hong Kong for a long time.

According to the agency, Chow’s mum, who’s in her 70s, was also old and cannot afford to cover the high maintenance cost of the property.

Many netizens conveyed their sympathies after learning about the actual motive behind the sale of the residence and wished her luck in finding a buyer.

Chow died at the age of 57 in Beijing after suffering a cardiac arrest.

It’s reported that Chow left her property and estate to her mother, as her two younger brothers are said to have no interest in taking over the assets.
