Chinese comedian Jia Ling, 41, wows netizens after losing 50kg in 6 months

Chinese comedian and actress Jia Ling has amazed fans with her remarkable weight loss transformation, Sin Chew Daily reported.

In just over six months, the 41-year-old successfully shed 50kg for her role as a boxer in the upcoming movie, Re La Gun Tang, which she will direct and star in.

As seen in a still of the film, Jia Ling looked much slimmer and fit in comparison to her past self. Her biceps appeared more defined too.

According to reports, Jia Ling adopted a strict, high-intensity fitness regimen to build her stamina and tone her abdominal muscles.

It is said that the actress was not always plus-sized but gradually gained weight after joining the comedy scene.

On social media, many netizens expressed shock at Jia Ling's drastic transformation while others reminded the actress to take care of her health.

"She transformed into a completely different person after losing weight. I couldn't recognise her at first," one netizen wrote.

Another added: "To lose this much weight takes a lot of willpower."

"Please don't over-exert yourself," said another.

Jia Ling made her directorial debut in the 2021 film Hi, Mom.

The film generated US$848mil (RM3.9bil) at the box office, making it the highest-grossing movie by a solo female director until Greta Gerwig's Barbie in 2023 (US$1.4bil).
