A newly single Sofia Vergara is hopeful that she’ll be able to find a new man in New York City.

The Modern Family star, 51, told The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon that she’s looking toward the future after her split from husband Joe Manganiello last year.

“I’m single now, so in New York, there are more people. There’s not only actors or writers or directors, I think there’s a bigger (pool). I’m going to spend more time in New York,” said the four-time Emmy nominee, noting there are “more options with men” in the city.

The Colombian star also praised the Big Apple’s “great food for when you go out on dates.”

Manganiello, 47, filed for divorce from the America’s Got Talent judge last July, on the heels of the couple’s announcement they were separating. The Magic Mike star’s filing, which came after seven years of marriage, cited irreconcilable differences.

“They have been growing apart for some time now and tried to resolve things, but they are focused on different areas of their lives,” a source told People at the time. “They definitely love and respect each other but once that initial passion dies down and other areas get in the way, then little differences get bigger.”

Manganiello, according to TMZ at least, also hoped to start a family, while Vergara – who is mother to son Manolo Gonzalez Vergara, 32, from a prior marriage – did not have the same desire.

Vergara was subsequently reported to be dating Justin Saliman, with whom she was spotted multiple times. Manganiello, for his part, moved on with Caitlin O’Connor, best known for Winning Time.

In mid-November, Vergara told People that she’d “had a very interesting year.

“I don’t want to say ‘bad’ or anything like that, but it’s very interesting and very difficult. I went through a divorce this year, the SAG strike that went on for so long,” she said, after the work stoppage ended earlier that month.

“I’ve seen my friends struggle – some had to take their kids out of their schools or had problems with their mortgages, so it’s been a weird, weird year.” – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
