Hong Kong actress Violet Lee died on Feb 25 after suffering a fall at her home in Canada. She was 70.
Her passing was confirmed by fellow actress Gigi Wong in an interview with Hong Kong's Oriental Daily News.
Wong, 74, disclosed that Lee had suffered a fall days before her death but refused to seek medical treatment.
The actress said: "She told her friends that it was just a sprain and nothing serious. She said she was fine when we told her we wanted to see her. When we asked her out, she refused. Friends had to leave food at her doorstep."
Wong added that Lee's death was unexpected as the latter had always been in good health and sounded fine when they spoke on the phone on Feb 24.
On the morning of Feb 25, however, friends quickly rushed to Lee's residence in Vancouver after failing to get in contact with her.
It was there they found Lee feeling unwell and nauseous. Her speech was also slurred and there were bruises on her face. They immediately called for an ambulance.
China Press reported that paramedics performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) on Lee for over half an hour before rushing her to the hospital. Unfortunately, she could not be resuscitated.
Lee's two daughters, who were reportedly in Hong Kong at the time of her death, are now in Canada to handle her affairs.
Lee made her showbiz debut in the 1970s and was in the same TVB artiste training class as actors Mary Hon and Damian Lau, whom she dated for seven years.
The actress starred in multiple shows like Enigma (1979), The Romantic Poet (1983), Class Of Distinction (1994) and more.
Lee married a businessman in 1984 and immigrated to Canada. However, the pair divorced after eight years together.
Lee had since been "single-handedly" taking care of their two daughters, according to Dimsum Daily.
