Hong Kong actor Louis Koo has responded to the rumours surrounding his relationship with actress Jessica Hester Hsuan, who he has known for some 30 years.

Over the past weeks, there have been talks of the pair – who have played on-screen lovers many times – dating and getting married. The latest rumour alleged that the both of them have a secret child.

At a recent event to celebrate his 30th anniversary in the entertainment scene, Koo denied the rumours and said that Hsuan was like family to him. He also likened their bond to that of siblings.

“There are baseless speculations online claiming I’m married and have a child with Jessica. This is not true!” he said.

Hsuan, who was also present at the event, added: “I have such a great figure after giving birth. How nice is that? It’s not possible.”

This isn’t the first time the two friends, both aged 53, have been romantically linked.

In July 2019, there was a rumour that Koo would marry Hsuan later that year – a claim Koo’s manager denied.

Oriental Daily reported that actress Natalie Wong was the only girlfriend Koo ever publicly admitted to. The pair reportedly split in 2001.

Meanwhile, Hsuan said in an interview with Hong Kong’s Ming Pao that although she and Koo aren’t lovers, she isn’t uncomfortable with fans fantasising about their bond.

The actress also told StarLifestyle in a past interview that she isn’t in a hurry to marry.

“I’m not married and I don’t feel pressured to get married because it’s my life. And it’s about what I want, it’s not about what people want,” she said in the 2021 interview.

She added: “I think it’s important to be happy. If you’re married to someone who you don’t get along with, that, to me, is misery.”
