Producer Datuk Yusof Haslam said that his son, director-actor Syamsul Yusof, hasn't returned to his parents' home despite the former expressing desire to meet his son several times.
The 69-year-old added that he has not met with Syamsul's wife, Ira Kazar, either since the two of them got married in January last year.
"He (Syamsul) has not been in touch with me. Maybe he is busy with filming, which is understandable as his film is scheduled for release at the end of this year," Yusof said.
Yusof added that he has no choice but to leave the future in God's hands and let go of the past as it has already happened.
"It doesn't matter if he doesn't come home. As a parent, I have to be mature about it. If a child behaves like that, I can't do the same," Yusof told mStar – The Star's Malay language portal – when met at an event in Shah Alam on Sunday (March 2).
As for meeting his new daughter-in-law, Yusof didn't want to make a comment for the sake of his wife, Datin Patimah Ismail – who had voiced displeasure in the past regarding Syamsul's behaviour towards his now ex-wife Puteri Sarah Liyana.
Yusof said: "I also want to protect my wife's feelings. I don't want my relationship with my wife to become strained because of this. Hopefully, there will be clarity in our family relationship."
Yusof reasoned that Syamsul might still be upset, hence his decision to distance himself and not contact his family.
"No child does not love his mother. Maybe he is still sulking or hurt," Yusof said.
But Yusof hopes for the best as the holy month of Ramadan is around the corner.
For the record, Syamsul announced that he married Ira in Thailand on Jan 6, 2023.
Then, on June 14, 2023, Syamsul divorced Puteri Sarah Liyana.
Yusof had previously mentioned that Syamsul had not come home for a long time without knowing the real reason.
