Hong Kong singer Steven Cheung is in the news again for the wrong reason.

He was slammed by netizens recently after he posted his QR code on social media asking for financial assistance.

The former member of the Cantopop duo Boyz is married to model Au Man Man and the couple have four children. Their eldest son reportedly has autism.

"I know this is not a wise decision, but I have really reached a point where I can't hold on anymore. After this month, everything can return to normal, so I really beg you all to help me," the scandal-plagued star wrote on Instagram regarding his decision to ask for help from fans.

According to Oriental Daily, Cheung was criticised by netizens, with some suggesting he should take on more jobs to support his family instead of asking for money online.

Cheung replied to the criticism, saying: "I am already working two jobs at the same time and I am not idly waiting for help."

He further explained that at times he couldn't leave the house for jobs as he had to take care of his children, with one needing special care.

The 39-year-old also thanked fans who helped out, saying he will pay them back once he and his wife get their financial affairs in order.

The controversial singer, who could not get singing gigs after his messy private life and infidelity were exposed, was spotted by a netizen working at a snack shop in Hong Kong in July last year.

A month later, he was seen distributing condoms and flyers at Causeway Bay.

"Accepting new fresh job (distributing) flyers today, and working hard to earn money for milk powder!" Cheung wrote on Instagram then.
