Actor Ron Ng found himself in an awkward situation when a fan unintentionally ignored him during his movie premiere in Malaysia.

The Hong Kong star was recently in the country to promote his new movie Deliverance.

In a viral video on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu, Ng, 44, was seen posing for photos with a group of fans.

After snapping pictures, the actor – who made his breakthrough in the 2003 series Triumph In The Skies – extended his hand to the woman next to him for a handshake.

However, she seemed unaware of his gesture and hastily left without sparing him a second glance, leaving Ng hanging awkwardly.

The woman, only known as Ning on Xiaohongshu, later apologised to Ng on the social media platform and said she didn’t mean to ignore him.

“Since we can’t take our time when taking photos, I was very anxious and hurried off after we were done.

“I completely failed to notice Ron wanting to shake hands with me,” she wrote, adding that she only found out what happened after watching clips of the interaction.

In the comments section, Ning explained that she never thought of turning around to shake hands with Ng as none of the previous groups before her did so.

She also explained that the event crew had already reminded them not to make any physical contact.

“Do you really think I would have just walked away if I knew I could shake his hand?” she said.

Many netizens left comments expressing amusement at Ng's abashed reaction.

Others said they would have reacted the same way Ning did if such a popular star was in front of them.
