Taiwanese actress Barbie Hsu has accused her ex-husband, Chinese businessman Wang Xiaofei, of infidelity and violence.
Her accusations come a day after Wang claimed in a Taiwan court that Hsu had misused his credit card for luxury purchases and gifts for her current husband, South Korean musician Koo Jun-yup, whom she married in March 2022.
In a statement on March 20, Hsu, 47, said: “The one who was unfaithful in our marriage is you, not me.
“While I did use your credit card post-divorce out of frustration, it was done with your authorisation. I did not use your card to buy anything for my current husband.”
Hsu also brought up her former mother-in-law Zhang Lan’s past allegations of actor Blackie Chen assaulting her son in November 2021 – a claim Zhang Lan later retracted.
She recounted an incident where Wang, 42, purportedly shoved her sister while intoxicated.
“When I tried to stop you, you pushed me to the ground even though I was pregnant at the time.
“You even attempted to hit me with a hardcover book. Blackie intervened to stop you from hurting me. He did not assault you,” she said.
Hsu further accused Wang of infidelity, adding that she received “many compromising photos” of him with other women during their marriage.
She claimed that after informing Zhang Lan about her son’s extramarital affair, the former dismissed her concerns and discouraged divorce.
The next day, however, photos emerged in major news outlets of Zhang Lan with Chinese actress Zhang Yingying – who was rumoured to be the third party in Wang's marriage with Hsu.
Hsu said: “After being exposed, she (Zhang Lan) persistently denied knowing Yingying and continuously insulted her. You later publicly admitted to having a relationship with her and declared her your benefactor.”
She continued: “Ten years of marriage, including two deaths and one serious injury. The issue about swiping your card, it is really funny now that I think of it.
“The amount that I lent and contributed to you is much more than that. What I spent by swiping your card was actually my own hard-earned money.”
While Hsu did not elaborate further on what she meant by “deaths” and “injury” in her message, her manager stated on Thursday (March 21) that the actress was referring to her two miscarriages in 2011 and 2018 when she wrote “deaths”.
As for the “serious injury”, Hsu’s manager said the Meteor Garden star was referring to the time she got rushed to the intensive care unit when she nearly died after giving birth to her son in 2016.
“From now on, I will not respond to the various defamations you have concocted. I will entrust everything to the law. From this moment on, you are just a fleeting illusion while I walk the flowery path,” Hsu said.
In response to Hsu’s allegations, Wang admitted in a Weibo post that he did push her sister out of anger but denied physically assaulting the both of them.
Wang and Hsu, who married in 2010, announced their divorce in November 2021 and have since been engaging in a war of words on social media. They have two children together.
Earlier in February, Wang, who is currently in a relationship with Taiwanese influencer and beauty consultant Mandy Ma, shared his desire to remarry this year.
Hsu reacted to his announcement by conveying her best wishes through her manager, saying that she was happy for Wang.
