Malaysian celebrities are sharing their Hari Raya celebrations on social media. From enjoying quality time with family and friends to reflecting on one’s faith, here’s how some of our local stars celebrated Aidilfitri.
Puteri Sarah Liyana
Actress Puteri Sarah may have ended her nine-year marriage with filmmaker Syamsul Yusof, but her relationship with her former in-laws is as strong as ever.
As seen in an Instagram Reel, Puteri Sarah and her family visited Syamsul’s parents, Datin Patimah Ismail and Datuk Yusof Haslam, for Hari Raya this year.
“Love mama and papa until the end of time. Thanks for taking care of me as if I were your own child,” the 38-year-old captioned her post.
Reciprocating the sentiment is Patimah, who shared a photo of the family gathering on her Instagram account alongside a caption that read: “In-laws until the end of time.”
This year seems to be much better for Puteri Sarah compared to the last.
To recap, Syamsul announced on Jan 6, 2023 that he had married a second wife, actress Ira Kazar, in Thailand.
His first wife Puteri Sarah filed for divorce ten days later, and it wasn’t until June 14 that year that the divorce was finalised.
Although Syamsul, 39, and Puteri Sarah would engage in a war of words back then, the latter assured that she’s on good terms with her ex-husband now.
Not only do they keep in contact with each other; Syamsul also meets up with their two children regularly.
Ruhainies
Despite being in the face of controversy, actress Ruhainies is grateful for being able to spend Hari Raya in the holy land of Mecca.
In an Instagram Story, the 31-year-old said celebrating Raya there was a “dream come true”.
“I want to have Ramadan and Hari Raya in the holy land. Alhamdulillah. Allah is the best of planners,” she added.
Last month, Ruhainies landed herself in hot water when she and Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz were nabbed by religious authorities under suspicion of khalwat (close proximity).
Aliff, 33, is married to local artiste Bella Astillah, 30.
The scandal affected Ruhainies’ reputation big time.
Not only did a Korean beauty brand censor her face in its Ramadan video advertisement, local producer Datuk A. Aida even blacklisted the actress from appearing in her future productions.
Nabila Razali
This year’s Raya celebration is special for popular singer Nabila Razali, who is marking the occasion for the first time as a married woman.
The 31-year-old ushered in the festive season with her husband Nik Iruwan Nik Izana at the latter’s hometown in Kelantan.
In Kelantan, Nabila visited Istana Kota Lama, which was built in the 19th century.
In an interview with mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Nabila said she was excited to experience the difference in Raya celebrations in Kelantan.
She tied the knot with Nik Iruwan in Pahang on Nov 18 last year.
“I asked my husband questions about happenings in the state so I won’t feel awkward,” she said.
Shila Amzah
This might not be Shila Amzah’s first time celebrating Hari Raya as a married woman, but it is her first with her husband, social media influencer Muhammad Ubaidillah Mohd Zulkefli. Shila tied the knot with Ubai on Aug 5 last year and is currently expecting a child with him.
An Instagram Reel posted by Shila on April 11 showed the singer happily watching a fireworks display with Ubai and his family.
In an accompanying caption, the 33-year-old said this was the first time she was “truly happy” to be a wife.
“Thank you for making me and Seth happy. More to come inshaAllah! Next year, there will be four of us,” she wrote.
The singer was previously married to Haris Idraki Elias, with whom she shares a son Seth Uwais.
Farid Kamil and Diana Danielle
It was a different kind of Hari Raya celebration for celebrity couple Farid Kamil and Diana Danielle last year after the latter filed for divorce from her husband of 11 years.
The couple legally divorced on Aug 10 that year but reconciled a month later.
For this year’s Hari Raya, Farid and Diana – who exchanged vows in November 2012 – are happily celebrating together as a family again.
But unlike past celebrations – which were spent in Farid’s hometown in Alor Setar, Kedah – the couple decided to mark this year’s occasion in Kuala Lumpur due to their busy schedules.
Farid, 42, and Diana, 42, are currently filming a new movie Baran, which is expected to be released later this year.
“My parents will be coming to KL to celebrate with me and my siblings.
“Raya is still Raya. As long as I get to be with my family, it doesn’t matter where we celebrate it,” the actor told Berita Harian.
Fasha Sandha
Actress Fasha Sandha planned to celebrate Raya in style.
In a recent interview, the actress revealed that she had already prepared 45 outfits to mark the festive season.
However, it seems that Fasha, 40, might need to spend the rest of the week in quarantine as she is down with Covid-19.
In an Instagram update today (April 12), Fasha said she and her family were on the way to Perlis when they decided to make a pit stop in KL.
“Everything I ate tasted bland. I felt uneasy so I decided to do a Covid test at a clinic. Sure enough, I was infected,” she wrote in the caption.
Although Fasha is unable to celebrate Raya in Perlis this year, the actress did get to meet her in-laws in Rembau, Negeri Sembilan.
Abby Abadi
Local actress Abby Abadi received a meaningful gift for Hari Raya this year: She finally met her daughter Marissa Dania Hakim’s husband Ahmad Aslam.
In an Instagram Reel, Abby, 46, could be seen hugging Marissa tightly before greeting Aslam.
The actress, whose real name is Arbaiyah Abdul Manan, said this year’s Raya celebration is an opportunity for everyone to right past wrongs.
“Celebrating Aidilfitri by teaching ourselves that every mistake has room for improvement. Every wound can be healed,” she wrote.
Earlier in March, Abby disclosed that Marissa and Aslam got married in Thailand last December without her knowledge.
She said then that she had already come to terms with the situation, adding that whatever happened had already been decided by fate.
Da’i Syed
Congratulations are in order for celebrity preacher and singer Da’i Syed, who ushered in the Raya season by announcing that his wife Hana Ismail is pregnant with their first child.
Photos uploaded on Instagram showed Da’i Syed, whose real name is Syed Shah Iqmal Syed Mohammad Shaiful, posing with Hana and caressing her baby bump.
“We wish everyone Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri,” the 29-year-old captioned his post.
In an Instagram Story, Da’i Syed said there won’t just be two of them for next year’s Raya.
“Insya-Allah it’s not just the two of us next year,” he wrote.
