Hong Kong actor Lee Lung Kei has opened up about the struggles he endured in the aftermath of the arrest of his 36-year-old fiancee Chris Wong.
In the inaugural episode of movie star Leung See Ho’s online talk show CelebuzzHK, Lee revealed that he grappled with a loss of motivation and interest in his hobbies following Wong’s arrest.
“When the incident first happened, it left a huge impact on me. I couldn’t focus on anything.
“Many people know how much I like model planes, but I lost interest in playing with them,” the 73-year-old said, adding that he felt as if the world had ended.
Lee, known for his role as the Jade Emperor in the TVB series Journey To The West (1996) and its sequel Journey To The West 2 (1998), also shared that he couldn’t eat or sleep for a week following the whole ordeal.
Despite all that, Lee acknowledged that the challenging circumstances had strengthened his bond with Wong.
“She now writes me a letter every day. Every single day,” he said tearfully before continuing, “I used to hear people say a friend in need is a friend indeed.
“It’s only when you encounter such a (difficult) situation, you will gain a profound understanding of this sentence ... that aside from love, friendship is also important.”
Wong, a Chinese national whose real name is Wang Qingxia, is currently in custody at the Tai Lam Centre for Women.
She was arrested by Hong Kong authorities earlier in February for allegedly overstaying her residency in the city and is currently facing six charges – including using counterfeit documents and making false statements to obtain her entry permit among others.
