Taiwanese actress Yao Yao has apologised for failing to pay condominium maintenance fees and inconveniencing her neighbours.

According to Hong Kong media, the 33-year-old had failed to pay a year’s worth of maintenance fees despite repeated reminders from management.

It was only after receiving a final notice this month, which gave her a seven-day deadline to pay or face legal action, that Yao Yao finally settled the outstanding amount of NT$49,613 (RM7,223).

Aside from unpaid fees, Yao Yao – whose real name is Kuo Shu Yao – received complaints for not collecting six months' worth of parcels, leading to a pile-up of packages at the lobby.

When management posted notices reminding the Teenage Psychic star to retrieve her items, CCTV footage captured her taking the notices down and tearing them up.

The award-winning actress also had a habit of discarding cardboard boxes outside her doorstep, which inconvenienced her neighbours.

In a statement through her manager, Yao Yao acknowledged her mistakes and said she will be more responsible in the future.

“Due to my busy work schedule and frequent travels, I have failed to handle my daily affairs properly. But being busy is not an excuse.

“In the future, I will be more disciplined and will ask my family to help with payment of management fees.

“I will also promptly take care of my personal belongings. I sincerely apologise for the inconvenience caused to my neighbours and the management,” she added.
