Former Malaysian child star Samantha Ee Kai Chee recently celebrated her fifth wedding anniversary with 75-year-old businessman Datuk Tai Huat Chang.

In an interview with television host Darren Ch'ng Boon Kiat, Tai shared that he had been single for over three decades before meeting Ee.

He further revealed that he had travelled to Japan, where Ee was studying, to declare his love and would wait for her every day as she went to school.

While Ee only considered him “a good friend” at the time, Tai remained resilient in his pursuit of the former Four Golden Princess member.

Four Golden Princess was a popular girl group among children in the 1990s.

“I’m very thick-skinned, so I kept pursuing her,” he said before adding, “I just wanted to win her over.”

Ee revealed that Tai used to call her brother three or four times a year to ask about her.

Tai’s sincerity touched Ee, and they eventually started a relationship.

When asked to list five good qualities about their respective partners, Tai said there were too many to choose from while Ee simply replied with, “tolerance”.

Tai and Ee tied the knot in a lavish ceremony in Kuala Lumpur in 2019. The couple has three children together.
