Singaporean actor Aliff Aziz is temporarily putting his career on hold to focus on his mental health following his divorce from Bella Astillah on Thursday (June 13).
Speaking to reporters outside the Federal Territories Syariah Lower Court, Aliff said he wanted to take time to reflect on himself.
“I’m in a phase where I need to rest for a while to take care of my mental health. Today has been a very hectic day for me.
“Regarding ‘rezeki’, I believe everything is in the hands of Allah. I’m now working towards self-reflection,” said the 33-year-old.
Aliff and Bella, who got married in 2016, divorced for a second time when the former pronounced the talak before Syariah Judge Wan Mohd Najib Wan Hamat at 1.10pm.
The pair had previously divorced on May 16, 2019 but reconciled during the iddah period.
When asked about his current relationship with Bella, whose real name is Dayang Ara Nabellah Awang Astillah, Aliff said it was not a good time to discuss such matters.
“I ask everyone to give space and time,” he added.
On March 9, Aliff and local actress Ruhainies were detained by Federal Territories Islamic Religious Department (Jawi) officers at a condominium in Kuala Lumpur for suspected khalwat.
Bella, 30, filed for a divorce days later.
In the proceedings on Thursday, Aliff agreed to give full custody of their two children to Bella and not file any disobedience claims against the actress.
“Bella is the biological mother of our kids and we will try to be good for them.
“I won’t say in detail what was discussed in court, but that’s the decision,” he told mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal.
Aliff also asked everyone to pray for the swift resolution of his alleged khalwat case with Ruhainies, 31.
“Insha-Allah, please pray for the best and hopefully the case will be resolved.
“I have already cooperated with Jawi authorities. We will leave it to them for further action,” he said.
Earlier in April, Bella accused Aliff of cheating on her 11 times, including with her younger sister.
Things heated up when Sarah Yasmine, a woman claiming to be Aliff's girlfriend since January, exposed screenshots of messages between the Singaporean actor and NRF, whom she alleged to be Ruhainies.
Aliff admitted to cheating on Bella in a podcast in May, saying he did so as his "soul felt empty".
