'I Do': HK actress Michelle Wai makes surprise engagement announcement

Hong Kong actress Michelle Wai surprised fans on Thursday (June 27) evening when she announced her engagement on Instagram.

Wai, who has always kept her private life under the wraps, shared two photos – one showing her holding her fiance’s hand, proudly displaying her engagement ring, and another capturing her beaming with joy as she accepted his proposal.

“From now on, we will walk the same path through wind and rain. Grateful to have met you. I Do,” the 39-year-old captioned her post.

The announcement received an outpouring of warm responses, as friends and fans flooded the comment section with congratulations.

“I’m so touched. She’s all grown up!” said actor Carlos Chan.

“That’s awesome! Congratulations! Wishing you two kids in three years,” said TV host Bob Lam.

In an interview with Hong Kong media, Wai revealed that her beau is a non-celebrity. Checks from HK01 found that he is a doctor.

Wai said there is no confirmation on the wedding date yet as her schedule is packed for the year.

The actress is currently promoting her upcoming film, The Last Dance, which is set to premiere in Hong Kong on Nov 14.

“Thank you for all the blessings. I hope to find more time to plan and prepare for the wedding. I will definitely share the good news with everyone,” she said.
