Anwar meets Indian composer AR Rahman, praises his efforts in promoting cultural harmony

Acclaimed Indian musician and composer AR Rahman, who was in Kuala Lumpur for a fan meeting, met with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on Tuesday (July 9).

The courtesy visit was held at Parliament Building.

According to a press release shared by concert organiser, Star Planet, Rahman expressed his admiration for Malaysia's rich cultural diversity and its vibrant arts scene.

Rahman also discussed potential collaborations in the fields of music and arts that could further enhance cultural diplomacy between India and Malaysia.

Likewise, Anwar acknowledged Rahman's contributions to global music industry and praised his efforts in promoting cultural harmony and his dedication to philanthropic causes through his music.

The 57-year-old artiste, who has won two Oscars, visited Kuala Lumpur for a fan meeting before his July 27 concert at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil.

Some 1,500 fans came to see the superstar in person.
