Hong Kong actor Nicholas Tse has returned to Malaysia after six years to promote his new action movie, Customs Frontline.

Tse, along with director Herman Yau, received a warm welcome after appearing at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur and The Exchange TRX on Tuesday (July 9).

Ahead of the meet-and-greet sessions in KL, Tse held a press conference where he expressed happiness at returning to Malaysia after a long absence.

The actor, who last visited the country in January 2018 for a cooking production, also shared his desire to shoot his upcoming film, New Police Story 2, at the Petronas Twin Towers.

“If the Malaysian government permits, I will personally climb to the top of the Petronas Twin (and) skydive from it. I really hope that one day, my new movie will have a scene like this,” the 43-year-old said.

Tse mentioned that the Petronas Twin Towers has long fascinated him, adding that he was inspired after watching the late Sean Connery filmed his 1999 movie, Entrapment, there.

“He is very brave! If I get the opportunity (to film there), I will do it myself,” said the actor, who doubles as the action choreographer for Customs Frontline.

Meanwhile, Yau said this is first time promoting his movie in Malaysia and thanked fans for their support.

When asked how he was able to convince Hong Kong's “God of Songs” Jacky Cheung to join the cast of Customs Frontline, the 62-year-old said it’s all about personal connections.

“I have worked with Jacky on four or five films previously, so I have an advantage when it comes to convincing him,” Yau said.

Customs Frontline revolves around two Hong Kong customs officers, Chow Ching Lai (Tse) and Cheung Wan Nam (Cheung), who are a close mentor-mentee pair.

In a case involving seized smuggled arms, Ching Lai is sent to take part in a joint operation with the Interpol to capture an arms dealer.

However, things get complicated when Wan Nam makes a drastic decision.
