Malaysian comedian Harith Iskander has requested the public to allow him some time before discussing his divorce from his wife, Dr. Jezamine Lim.

Speaking to Berita Harian on WhatsApp, Harith said they will release an official statement addressing the matter soon.

"Thank you for the call or message. I apologise for the late reply. We will issue a statement soon, and you will be the first to know. Thank you for your patience," the 57-year-old said.

On July 9, the entertainment scene was abuzz when news broke that Jezamine had filed for divorce from Harith at the Syariah Lower Court in the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

When contacted by mStar, The Star's Malay-language news portal, Jezamine revealed that she had filed the divorce application last month but declined to comment on the reason for her decision.

On Friday (July 12), Syariah lawyer Datuk Akberdien Abdul Kadir said that Harith and Jezamine's divorce case had been postponed to a later date due to "unavoidable circumstances".

The hearing was initially scheduled to take place on July 15.

"It got postponed as the court had other matters. Both parties are giving full cooperation. So please wait for the new date to be announced," he said.

Harith and Jezamine, 41, were married on June 12, 2010.

The couple share three children: Zander Xayne, 14, Alessandra Jayne, 11 and Zydane Zayne, nine.
