Mediacorp artiste Zhang Yaodong (pic) has responded to various allegations about his private life made by netizens on social media.

Earlier in July, a netizen made several allegations about the 46-year-old on Chinese social media platform Xiaohongshu.

It was later followed by another netizen, who wrote a post on Xiaohongshu and shared photos linked to the Singapore-based Malaysian actor.

Zhang, who won his sixth Top 10 Most Popular Male Artistes award at the Star Awards in April, did not react to the allegations directly for about two weeks.

Reacting to a query from Lianhe Zaobao, Mediacorp told the Chinese-language daily on July 5 that it was unable to comment on its artistes’ personal matters.

Zhang’s manager told Zaobao on July 18 that the actor has filed a police report and sought legal advice over the allegations.

The manager added that the actor will not respond to the issue again.

According to Shin Min Daily News on July 19, the two Xiaohongshu accounts have since taken down the posts. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
