Hong Kong actor Michael Miu is in Malaysia to film his new action drama, Fearless.
This marks his first trip to the country since 2018, when he came to shoot his web series, Guardian Angel.
During his time in Kuala Lumpur, Miu took the opportunity to explore the bustling Taman Connaught night market in Cheras with his co-stars.
This included Malaysian actress Tong Bing Yu and Hong Kong stars Sam Lee, Carlos Chan, German Cheung and more.
Miu expressed amazement at the lively atmosphere and the variety of food available there during a recent lensing ceremony.
“It was my first time visiting the area and I had some stinky tofu and char kuey teow. I’ll be sure to keep my stomach empty the next time I go there,” the 66-year-old said.
Stretching over 2km long with over 700 stalls, the Taman Connaught night market is said to be one of the longest in Malaysia.
However, Miu and his co-stars only managed to traverse a small portion of the street as many people recognised them and stopped to take photos, which blocked the path.
“We later went to a nearby restaurant but had to leave through the back door as there was a crowd at the entrance. I think I’ll have to wear a mask the next time I go there!” he exclaimed.
In an Instagram update, Tong shared several photos with her co-stars from that night.
The 41-year-old captioned her post: “Being surrounded by tall and handsome guys made me feel like a dwarf.”
She also expressed pride in the rich food culture, saying: “Malaysian cuisine is truly worth being proud of.”
Other cast members like Ng Siu Hin and Julius Brian Siswojo have also taken to social media to document their short trip, expressing amusement over the attention their group received from local fans.
In an interview with local media, Hong Kong actor Philip Keung said filming for Fearless will take place around Klang Valley until September or October.
The 57-year-old, who owns a property in Penang, has been playing tourist around Kuala Lumpur and documenting his adventures on Instagram since his arrival.
