Popular Malaysian actor Adi Putra, who portrayed the legendary Malay warrior Mat Kilau in the hit movie Mat Kilau reminded graduating students that their real education begins when they enter the working world, which is fraught with obstacles and challenges, to pursue their dreams and careers.
Addressing some 182 International College of Management and Sports (ICMS) students at their graduation ceremony at ICMS in Petaling Jaya on Saturday (July 27), the actor who also made a name for himself in the KL Gangster series of movies, recalled receiving painful criticism early in his career when some film directors told him he could not act.
"They told me I wasn’t suited for acting. Industry critics doubted my abilities and even friends and family questioned my choice to be in the film industry.
"My career path hasn’t been easy, it has been very winding but each challenge taught me something invaluable.
"But I learned an important lesson early on: success isn’t just about talent, it’s about resilience, determination and the willingness to keep moving forward despite the many obstacles in my way,” said Adi Putra, whose real name is Mohamed Hadi Putera Halim.
The actor, who was appointed as ICMS Ambassador during the event, reminded the graduates that when they start doubting their efforts or feel like giving up, "remember that there’s no ivory without cracks and no mountain too high to climb.”
"Nothing is impossible for those who don’t stop trying. Stand up and rise; success is not a destination but a journey,” he said.
Adi Putra told the graduates as they step into the workforce, they need to be ready to learn and grow.
"Surround yourself with your potential, seek out mentors who can guide and support you. Remember, no one achieves success alone, it’s a collective effort.
"No matter what field you choose to pursue, whether you want to become an entrepreneur, football player, health and safety officer or anything else, put your heart and soul into it,” he advised. – Bernama
