After much speculation about British actress Florence Pugh filming the upcoming Marvel film Thunderbolts* in Malaysia, we finally have an answer.

On July 27, Pugh and her Thunderbolts* co-stars attended the 2024 San Diego Comic-Con, where they shared their experiences filming the superhero movie.

In an interview with Variety magazine, Pugh seemingly confirmed filming at Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur. Standing at 678.9m, it is the second tallest building in the world.

When asked about the biggest stunt she performed for the film, the 28-year-old simply responded: "Jumping off the second tallest building in the world."

The actress, who plays Black Widow's (Scarlett Johansson) sister Yelena, also gave a shout-out to her stunt team on the film, adding: "I think we all like feeling cool doing stunts."

Talks of Pugh filming a skydiving scene in KL surfaced in June when a fan account on X (formerly Twitter) claimed the actress was in the city to film a Marvel movie.

The rumours were further fuelled when Pugh's sister Arabella Gibbins shared a photo of the Petronas Twin Towers on her Instagram account and tagged her in the post.

In an interview with Astro's entertainment site Gempak, National Film Development Corporation (Finas) chairman Datuk Kamil Othman said Thunderbolts* was not a part of the Film in Malaysia Incentive Scheme (Fimi).

However, he said it was proof Malaysia is a popular shooting location for international productions.

Expected to premiere in 2025, Thunderbolts* follows a team of anti-heroes conducting covert operations for the government of the United States.

It is the last movie of Phase Five in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
