Brad Pitt is reportedly “getting updates” on estranged son Pax Jolie-Pitt, who was released from the ICU following an e-bike accident in Los Angeles, California, the United States.
The Oscar winner, 61, who shares his 20-year-old son with ex Angelina Jolie, “hasn’t had any contact with Pax in years, but he still very much cares,” an insider told People.
Jolie-Pitt was not wearing a helmet at the time of the July 30 accident, which occurred during rush hour at an intersection on Los Feliz Boulevard, where he drove his bike into the back of a stopped vehicle, People previously reported.
Law enforcement sources told TMZ at the time that the actor and photographer had suffered a minor brain bleed and hip pain.
Recently, E! News reported that Jolie-Pitt had been released from intensive care but, as an insider noted, had a “long road of recovery and physical therapy” ahead of him.
“He suffered complex trauma,” the source said. “Pax and Angelina are deeply grateful for the quick and life-saving action of first responders, and the outstanding medical care he received.”
Jolie-Pitt, who was adopted from an orphanage outside Vietnam’s Ho Chi Minh City, is the fourth of six kids shared by Pitt and Jolie.
In the years since Pitt was accused of physically abusing Jolie and their kids on a flight in 2016, the Once Upon a Time... In Hollywood star has had “virtually no contact” with his adult children, though he maintains “visitation with the younger kids,” a source recently told People.
Along with Pax, the A-listers’ brood also includes Maddox, 22; Zahara, 19; Shiloh, 18; and 16-year-old twins Vivienne and Knox.
Maddox, Zahara and Shiloh have all recently dropped their father’s surname from their own.
After 10 years of dating, Pitt and Jolie wed in August 2014, with the latter filing to divorce just over two years later.
