Malaysian singer Datuk Nora Ariffin recently surprised fans when she announced her divorce from her husband, senior lecturer Dr Rushdi Ramli.
According to mStar, The Star's Malay-language news portal, Nora took to social media on Monday (Aug 12) to share a video recording of Rushdi pronouncing the talak.
Shortly after posting the clip, the singer made an Instagram Story claiming that her ex-husband had been forced to divorce her against his will.
She also urged the public not to blame him as he had allegedly acted under the orders of another person.
However, she declined to reveal the identity of the individual.
“He was simply following the orders given to him, which is to let me go without a reason and to record a video as proof. I’m shocked and at a loss for words,” the 51-year-old wrote.
Last September, Nora rubbished rumours of trouble in her marriage to Rushdi.
The former couple had married in 2021, though Nora kept the details of the ceremony private, only sharing that Rushdi was a good friend of her late husband, composer Johan Nawawi.
Nora was married to Johan from 1992 until his passing on March 24, 2017. They had four children together.
In 2019, Nora lost her second child, singer Muhammad Syakir Aliff. He was 20.
