Former Hong Kong actor Lo Hoi Pang lost his sight in one eye due to diabetes.
He revealed last December that his long-term diabetes had caused glaucoma in his right eye, adding that there was no cure for it.
On Thursday (Aug 15), television producer Robert Chua took to social media to share photos with Lo and actress Meg Lam having a meal together.
From the photos, many netizens noted that Lo had lost weight and needed Lam to support him as he walked.
In an interview with HK01, Lo shared that he didn’t have anyone to take care of him as he lives alone.
“I live alone. I need someone to support me (when walking) because I can’t see well,” the 82-year-old said.
Despite the severity of his illness, Lo remains optimistic and still goes out occasionally to meet friends.
As for whether he plans on taking up any acting projects, the Line Walker (2016) actor replied: “I won’t act anymore.”
According to reports, Lo allegedly has reduced his onscreen appearances since his heart bypass surgery in 2018, choosing to prioritise his health instead.
It has been reported that he stopped filming as he can't see his mobile phone or script well.
His recent appearances include small roles in the films Rob N Roll (2024), Chilli Laugh Story (2022) and Zero To Hero (2021).
Lo attended TVB’s training classes in 1973 and graduated a year later with stars like Chow Yun Fat and the late Ng Man Tat.
He is best known for his performance in the 2011 movie, Life Without Principle, for which he won a Hong Kong Film Award for Best Supporting Actor.
