Taiwanese actor Greg Hsu – whose real name is Hsu Kuang-han – has recently announced his sudden enlistment into the military earlier this week.

Hsu’s agency, Ichi Entertainment, urged fans to be patient and look forward to his return next year in a statement on Thursday (22 Aug).

“Thank you all for your concern. Kuang-han is currently serving in the military. Please give him some space. He looks forward to bringing more wonderful work after returning next year,” the agency's statement read.

The 33-year-old celebrity has not made any statement regarding his enlistment.

According to Taiwanese media, Hsu is reported to complete a 21-day basic training course before beginning his duties in the substitute military service.

Taiwan’s mandatory service – originally four months – was extended to one year due to increasing cross-strait tensions.

The Marry My Dead Body star left many fans around the world heartbroken with his sudden enlistment.

Netizens were quick to comment on Hsu’s personal social media and his agency’s account in posts which promoted his latest role in crime-comedy GG Precinct.

“Will see all your new work! Waiting for you to come back,” one netizen commented.

“I’m disappointed. They only release his latest work when he goes to the army without notice,” another said.
