Taiwanese singer-actress Ariel Lin recently opened up about her love life on the seventh season of the Chinese reality show Heart Signal.

In the latest episode, the 41-year-old revealed that she has been in a long-distance relationship with her husband, businessman Charles Lin, since their marriage in December 2014.

To see each other, the couple – who share a daughter – would have to take a 15-hour flight.

Ariel is based in Taiwan whereas Charles is reportedly based in the United States.

Despite the challenges that come with long-distance marriages, Ariel is willing to live with it, saying it feels like they are falling in love all over again each time they unite.

“Even after all these years, I still get butterflies when I’m about to see him ... like it’s our first date,” she said.

Ariel added that physical distance has never been an issue since the beginning. In fact, she found “emotional distance” to be a bigger concern.

“Two people may share the same bed yet have different dreams. That is what’s scary,” she said.

The In Time With You (2011) star further elaborated: “What matters in the long run is whether you’re willing to put your heart into the relationship and share every little detail of your life with one another.”

Ariel’s perspectives sparked mixed reactions among netizens.

Some found it hard to imagine how a long-distance marriage could last for almost 10 years while others believed the distance kept their love fresh.

“I would have just given up,” one netizen said.

Another countered: “It’s because of this distance that makes each reunion feel like they’re falling in love all over again.”
