Angelina Jolie is looking forward to a new chapter by leaving Los Angeles, but she has to wait because of her divorce with Brad Pitt.

Born in raised in the city of angels, the Maria actress is now counting down the days until she can move abroad. Jolie told The Hollywood Reporter the only reason she’s still in the city is “because I have to be here from a divorce.”

The Academy Award winner and Pitt’s twins, Vivienne and Knox, turned 16 in July, while the couple’s other children are all of age.

“But as soon as they’re 18, I’ll be able to leave,” she explained.

The twins will reach that age on July 12, 2026, which gives her a little under two years stuck in LA. As for where she will go next, Jolie may be on the other side of the globe.

“I’ll spend a lot of time in Cambodia,” she said, which is where she adopted her eldest son, Maddox. She also plants to “spend time visiting my family members wherever they may be in the world.”

Jolie cited a desire for “privacy” as the main reason for wanting a change of scenery.

“When you have a big family, you want them to have privacy, peace, safety,” Jolie explained.

“I have a house now to raise my children, but sometimes this place can be ... that humanity that I found across the world is not what I grew up with here.”

Jolie declined to give specifics about the divorce in her Hollywood Reporter interview as the legal battle continues.
