Director and actor Syamsul Yusof chose not to comment on his divorce from his ex-wife, Ira Kazar, on Thursday (Sept 5) morning.
However, Syamsul, or Mohd Syamsul Mohd Yusof, 40, expressed his gratitude after his divorce proceedings were settled amicably.
"I have no comment. Alhamdulillah, everything is resolved. There's no reason to share. I don't want to share," he told mStar, The Star's Malay-language news portal.
Syamsul thanked those who have shown concern for him.
He shared this after completing the confirmation of the pronouncement of cerai takliq (a divorce due to breach of contract or promise expressed by the husband after the solemnisation of marriage in accordance with Hukum Syara’ or Islamic rules and the provision under the State Islamic Family Law Act) at the Kuala Selangor Syariah Lower Court.
Syariah Judge Mohd Faizal Habib confirmed that there was a violation of the takliq pronouncement made by Syamsul towards Ira since August 14.
Although he is mum on the reason for the divorce, Syamsul did thank fans who had sent him words of encouragement on social media.
"I received many messages through WhatsApp and on social media (DM). They prayed for good things, thank you," he said.
Syamsul and Ira got married on Jan 6 last year in Thailand.
Their marriage was announced by Syamsul through a video he uploaded on Instagram in January last year.
He was previously married to Puteri Sarah. They divorced on June 14 last year.
They have two young children, Syaikhul Islam, seven, and Sumayyah, five.
