Syamsul Yusof's mother Datin Patimah Ismail expressed her sadness over the challenges her son is currently going through.

The controversial director officially divorced Ira Kazar on Thursday (Sept 5) with one talak. The divorce comes less than two years after he tied the knot with Ira.

It is difficult for Patimah to see Syamsul going through this difficult phase of his life alone.

"I am in tears to see my son enduring the hardship on his own," wrote the wife of Datuk Yusof Haslam on her InstaStory after news of the divorce was reported.

Patimah added that no matter the circumstances, as a mother, she always prays for the best for her son.

It's been reported that Syamsul has not returned to his family home or seen his parents for a long time.

The cause of the rift between them is not known.

When the Mat Kilau director was met at the Kuala Selangor Syariah Lower Court after his divorce proceedings, he refused to comment on his relationship with his parents.

The 40-year-old filmmaker said he wants to resolve the conflict between them privately and not involve outsiders.

For the record, Syamsul and Ira secretly tied the knot in Thailand on Jan 6, 2023.

However, their relationship had been gossip fodder for most of 2023 as he was still legally married to his first wife Puteri Sarah Liyana at that time.

Puteri Sarah, 38, then went on social media to expose Ira as the cause for the problem in her marriage.

Syamsul and Puteri Sarah, who share two children, eventually divorced on June 14, 2023.
