Popular Malaysian singer Shila Amzah is busy preparing to participate in another reality singing show in China, Singing With Legends Season Six.
The 13-episode show, which features both seasoned and new artistes, is currently being filmed in Wuxi and Shanghai, and Shila’s turn to perform is scheduled this month.
Shila, 34, whose real name is Nurshahila Amir Amzah, won the Chinese talent competition Asian Wave in 2012 and also participated in the I Am A Singer competition in China in 2014.
She told Bernama her focus now is to ensure she is fully prepared for the competition, both physically and vocally.
To achieve this goal, she began her fitness and vocal training two months ago.
"I’m also focusing on my internal health as I recently gave birth to my second child, who is now four months old," she said.
The Memori Tercipta and Patah Seribu singer said she is not aiming to win the Singing With Legends show but hopes to reach the finals.
"I’m just aiming to make it to the finals and am not setting a goal of becoming the champion as I am aware that I’ve just given birth. Besides, I don’t want to put pressure on myself. I want to enjoy this journey as it’s a new experience for me.
"What makes this time even more special is that my husband is accompanying me. With him here, (my) fans in Malaysia will get to see my journey," she said.
She also hopes her participation in the reality show will mark a new beginning for her career in both Malaysia and China after having taken a break for several months.
Meanwhile, Alice Wang, 21, a local university student here, said she is looking forward to watching the Malaysian singer perform in the reality show.
"It's been quite a while since we've heard anything about Shila. Her participation in this show could further boost her popularity, and I believe many fans here (in China) have missed her," she said.
Yesterday (Sept 9), Shila announced through her Instagram account that she will be participating in a singing reality show in China, and in her post, the singer also hoped Malaysians would pray for her success. – Bernama
