Several music stars are expected in town ahead of the Formula One Singapore Airlines Singapore Grand Prix from Sept 20 to 22, with American singer-actor Jared Leto being the first to be spotted in public.

His rock band Thirty Seconds To Mars, which he co-founded with his brother Shannon Leto in 1998, will perform at Zone 1 Wharf Stage on Sept 20 and at Zone 4 Padang Stage on Sept 22.

The group last played in Singapore at music festival Singfest in 2010.

On Sept 18, indoor rock climbing gym Climb Central shared on Instagram Stories a photo of the 52-year-old star with two people, likely to be climbers.

The caption said: “@jaredleto sighted sending some routes at @climbcentral before the big show.”

While Climb Central did not state which outlet he was at, it was likely at Funan mall based on the background in the photo.

An avid climber, Leto made headlines in November 2023 when he became the first person to legally scale the Empire State Building in New York.

He was also captured in videos scaling the wall of a five-star luxury hotel in Berlin, Germany, without a harness in June 2023.

The Oscar winner – who won a Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for playing a transgender woman in the biographical drama Dallas Buyers Club (2013) – hinted that he was in Singapore on his Instagram Stories early on Sept 19.

“Singapore, see you Friday + Sunday,” he wrote. “Who’s coming?” – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
