Now that he is a married man, actor Syafie Naswip is setting boundaries while on set to avoid any misunderstanding with his wife Nur Afiqah Ishak with whom he tied the knot in December 2023.

The Mukhsin star said even though his wife is open-minded and understanding about his career, it doesn't give him free rein to accept any role or perform intimate scenes simply because the script demands it.

"So far, my wife is fine with the roles I play. However, as a husband, it's important to know your limits. When I read a script, I can gauge whether a scene is 'too much' or not. Before getting married, I might have been OK with (intimate) scenes but now I have to be more cautious.

"It's just that, nowadays, we see a lot of marital issues cropping up around us, and I don’t want those problems to affect us. So, wherever possible, I try to take care of things and discuss them openly," he told reporters during a press conference to announce the launch of the film Gayong in Kuala Lumpur recently.

The 32-year-old actor, whose real name is Muhammad Syafie Naswip, is also grateful his career has flourished since getting married to Nur Afiqah.

"Now, I’m getting more offers to act in movies but I am also open to accepting roles in dramas and telemovies,” he said.

On his future plans, Syafie said he hopes to open a nursery for plants someday.

The winner of the Best Supporting Actor award at the 25th Malaysian Film Festival said during the movement control order period in 2020, he became involved in gardening as he found it therapeutic.

"Seeing fresh green vegetables growing right before my eyes helps me relax and appreciate nature’s beauty... it helps calm my mind and soul, especially after a long day of work.

"I take good care of my plants. I even touch, stroke and talk to them, referring to myself as their Abah (father). That way, my plants stay healthy and fresh,” he said. – Bernama
