Malaysian actor Kenji Sawahi plans on staying in a nursing home someday if he doesn't find a life partner.
In a recent interview with mStar, The Star’s Malay-language news portal, Kenji – whose real name is Lim Boon Wah – said the decision comes as he didn’t want to trouble his family.
“I’m already living on my own now. Once I’m older, I plan to sell all of my assets and divide the money among my family members.
“I’m choosing to stay in a nursing home if I don’t find my soulmate. I don’t want to trouble anyone. My siblings already have their own families,” the 61-year-old said.
The Hantu Judi star also told Harian Metro: “At this age, the fact that I still get to open my eyes the next day is already a blessing.”
Although Kenji is open to the idea of a relationship, he believes finding a life partner at this stage seems unlikely.
Nonetheless, the actor is perfectly content with his single status and doesn't see it as a concern. In fact, he enjoys the freedom that comes with it.
“I’m already 61. If I marry and my child turns 20, I would already be 80! How would I be able to care for them then?
“Single life is fun for me. Even if the production crew calls me for a project at the last minute, I can still go as I have no other responsibilities,” he said to mStar.
Kenji made his acting debut in the 1986 drama, Mata Kristal, and has appeared in popular shows such as Gerak Khas, KL Gangster: Underworld 2 and Special Force: Anarchy.
He is currently starring in the new Astro drama, Ternyata Sebuah Bahagia, led by Datin Elvina Mohamad and Zamarul Hisham.
