Indonesian actor Baim Wong has revealed that his wife, Paula Verhoeven's, alleged infidelity was the reason he filed for divorce.

Baim, 43, said he had tried to save the marriage for over a year but to no avail.

"I was betrayed by two people who were very close to me. The (third party) was my best friend," he told Indonesian media.

"I still can't believe it. I held on for a year because of our children," he added during a press conference.

Earlier, Baim confirmed that he had filed for divorce from Paula, who's an actress, on Monday.

Baim added that he no longer harbours resentment toward his wife and friend, despite knowing about their affair.

"After the incident, I forgave them ... in my own way.

"I also pray that they receive guidance and are shown the right path. I don't want to hold any grudges," said the actor, who made his directorial debut this year in the Indonesian horror Lembayung.

Baim also confirmed at the press conference that he has been living separately from Paula for the past seven months.

For the record, Baim and Paula tied the knot in November 2018. They have two children together, Kiano, three, and Kenzo, two.
