Olivia Munn, who recently underwent a double mastectomy, has gone topless for a new ad campaign – during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
The 44-year-old actress, known for roles in The Newsroom and The Daily Show, models Skims bras in a new campaign launched on Oct 23 by Kim Kardashian’s wildly popular shapewear company.
In one of the photos, she wears the brand’s nipple bra, while in another NSFW image shared on the company’s Instagram story wearing Skims Body Legging, her mastectomy scars are shown in a side view.
“When I look at the scars or how my breasts look different or how clothes fit on me differently, I just feel a lot of gratitude,” Munn said in a clip. “The way my body looks is just a representation of how hard I fought.”
The decision to show her mastectomy scars was spontaneous.
“We were in the middle of the shoot and we were changing an outfit that could see more of my scars, and so the makeup artist was touching up my scars, and then we got to the double mastectomy scars and they were really hard to cover up,” the mother of two said during a Today interview.
“And then I was looking in the mirror and I just thought, ‘I’m done being insecure about my scars.'”
According to Skims, 10% of the retail sales price for each bra it sells from Oct 23 to Oct 31 will be donated to the breast cancer organisation Susan G. Komen. It’s part of this campaign which was launched during Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
In March, Munn revealed her 2023 breast cancer diagnosis and how she privately underwent a double mastectomy.
The Gateway star later shared that she recently underwent a hysterectomy and also froze some of her eggs before undergoing the treatment plan for the aggressive disease.
“It was a big decision to make,” she shared in a Vogue magazine interview published on Mother’s Day. – New York Daily News/Tribune News Service
