Singer Shila Amzah shared on Instagram that she went for a vacation in Penang recently with husband Ubai and her two children.
According to the post, the 34-year-old decided on the island as her destination as she wants to start a new chapter in her life and make good memories there.
She added this is because she has carried a trauma for over 10 years after going through “few incidents in Penang that haunts me”.
The Patah Seribu songstress added that she’s trying to face her past with her husband by her side.
“Many of you may not know this, but Penang has been a source of trauma for me,” she wrote in the caption.
“Several incidents happened there that have haunted me, and for over 10 years, I couldn’t move past them.
“About three years ago, I tried to confront it but failed.”
Although she didn’t clarify what these incidents were, Shila admitted that Ubai knew about this dark moment in her life.
“Recently, we decided to go on a family vacation.... When I suggested Penang, he asked me why. I told him I wanted to create new memories with our little family.
“Finally, we did it. I’m so grateful I could do this with him, and I can’t thank him enough for being in my life."
In the same post, Shila also shared about her daughter, Rhea Akira, who couldn’t stop crying due to teething.
Always a calm mother amid the challenges of raising children, Shila believes that all parents have a responsibility to be the best parent.
"Ubai is often amazed at how I stay calm. I told him that, as parents, we have no other choice. I don’t want to lose (control) in front of the kids (because) that would be traumatising for them.
“No matter how tired we are, these babies are blessings and responsibilities given by God to us."
Shila and Ubai tied the knot on Aug 5, 2023, and have a daughter, Rhea, born in May. Shila also has a son, Seth Uwais, from her previous marriage.
