Hong Kong actor Gilbert Lam has disclosed that he’s been unwell for over a month, China Press reported.
In a video uploaded on social media, the 62-year-old could be seen moving slowly as he tried to get out of bed.
Lam, who was seen wearing a brace, then shared that his sciatica had flared up again, leaving him unable to stand or sit comfortably for over a month.
The former ATV star now relies on a walker to get around.
“Something as simple as walking can be taken from you just like that, leaving you completely unable to move.
“Health is truly invaluable. Cherish it and those who care about you,” he said, adding that his injury stems from overworking during his acting days.
Over the past month, Lam has undergone various treatments – including hospitalisation, acupuncture and physiotherapy.
The Good Old Days star added that his condition not only affected his ability to walk but also left him with no appetite, causing him to lose 7kg.
“I was able to cope a few days ago, but the nerves in my legs are acting up again.
“I need to see the doctor for further treatment. Hopefully, this will be my last visit,” he said, adding that the entire ordeal has been painful.
According to reports, Lam has been suffering from sciatica for years now.
The National Service website describes sciatica as a condition where the sciatic nerve, which travels from the lower back to the feet, becomes compressed or irritated.
Symptoms include stabbing pains, tingling, numbness or weakness in one's lower back, leg or feet.
