Hong Kong-American singer Coco Lee’s ashes were laid to rest at a renowned mausoleum in her mother’s hometown of Wuhan, central China, in October last year.
At that time, her gravesite featured a sky-blue memorial with a rainbow-coloured staircase leading up to a white sculpture of the singer.
However, recent photos reveal that the site has fallen into disrepair: it’s now overgrown with weeds, and the once-beautiful flowers appear withered and untidy.
Her statue has also turned brown, and vines now completely cover the rainbow staircase.
Disappointed fans voiced their frustration at the neglected state of Lee’s resting place.
"Coco Lee is so beloved; why is no one properly maintaining her resting place?" one netizen wrote.
Another said: "My heart aches to see this. She was such a talented star, and she deserved a final resting place worthy of her."
Others shared sentiments like, "Coco Lee, are you seeing this from heaven?"
Some fans, however, pointed out that this is a regular cemetery that charges management fees and employs staff for maintenance.
They speculated that the "weeds" are actually flowers that haven’t yet bloomed, part of the garden’s intentional landscape design.
