Singaporean celebrity couple Shawn Thia and Xenia Tan held their wedding on Nov 24 more than two years after their engagement.

Their wedding ceremony at JW Marriott Hotel Singapore South Beach was attended by local celebrities such as DJ-host Dennis Chew, actors Glenn Yong and Joel Choo, singer-influencer Annette Lee, actress-influencer Chiou Huey and actress-getai host Liu Lingling.

Actress Gina Tan, who played Thia’s mother in the long-form series Sunny Side Up (2022 to 2024), posted on Instagram Stories a photo with Thia, writing: “My ‘son’s’ big day.”

She also posted a photo with the newly-weds, writing: “So happy that this lovely couple finally tie the knot. Wishing the both of you a lifetime of love, happiness and countless blessings.”

Their Sunny Side Up co-stars such as Chen Xiuhuan, Wang Yuqing and Noah Yap also attended the wedding.

Posting photos with the newly-weds and other celebrities at the wedding, Chen wrote: “You’re truly made for each other. Here’s wishing you endless happiness, laughter and love in your journey together.”

Local actor Mark Lee, who played Xenia Tan’s father in the movie Wonderland (2024), and Peter Yu, who played Lee’s neighbour in the film, were also part of the guest list.

According to Lianhe Zabao, Thia, 28, and Tan, 30, got to know each other on the set of a short film that was part of the Mediacorp series Fresh Takes! in 2019.

Thia had originally planned to propose to Tan on Jeju island in South Korea in May 2022, but the plan was thwarted after Tan continued to test positive for Covid-19 after contracting the virus in the previous month.

He changed his plan and the couple flew to Britain instead, where he proposed to her in Wales. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
