Don’t miss the Festival of Drums and Percussion Malaysia 2024, a celebration of rhythm and talent happening on Saturday (Dec 7) at Dewan Seri Budiman, UiTM Shah Alam.
This one-day festival promises an electrifying experience, gathering Malaysia’s finest musicians for a vibrant showcase of drums, gendang and percussion instruments.
The festival features a packed schedule, including interactive workshops and clinics during the day, a drumline performance, and culminating with the spectacular All-Star Show Gala Concert in the evening.
Among the talented artistes participating are Datuk Zainal Abidin, Ujang Exists, XPDC, Arthur Kam, Pa'ang Zaman, Rie Tsuji, San Percussion, Steve Thornton, and Gong.
According to Aznan Alias, music director for Datuk M. Nasir, the workshops and clinics are a must-attend part of the festival.
“This is the best opportunity for audiences, music enthusiasts, and students to gain valuable information, ask questions, and interact directly in an 'up close & personal and intimate' setting. In fact, this festival offers not just one but eight clinics to attend, providing a wealth of knowledge and experience,” he said.
Bassist and music lecturer Fly Halizor also highlighted the event’s networking potential for aspiring musicians, calling it a fantastic platform to learn and connect.
The evening’s Gala Concert, starting at 8.45pm, promises a unique blend of modern, Latin, and traditional percussion accompanied by orchestral arrangements, making it a treat for music lovers.
Organised by JS Music, the festival aims to promote percussion arts and celebrate Malaysia’s creative talents.
Tickets are available in two categories: Festival Pass (includes access to all events and dinner) and Concert Ticket (for the All-Star Show Gala Concert only).
