Chinese actress JJ Jia Xiaochen has grumbled about her husband, Hong Kong action star Louis Fan, on social media again.
“Actually, Jan 1 was also our ninth wedding anniversary, but he forgot about it again,” Jia, 42, wrote in Chinese on Weibo on Jan 2.
The couple, who are based in China, registered their marriage in 2016 after dating for more than three years. They have two daughters aged four and seven.
Fan, 51, has a son and another daughter, who are in their 20s, from a previous relationship.
A netizen urged Jia on Jan 2 to tell Fan about their wedding anniversary directly, as some men will never remember anniversaries. But she said he would give many reasons for forgetting, even after her reminders.
Another netizen said one tends to care less about birthdays, festivals and anniversaries as one gets older, but Jia replied that there should still be a sense of occasion.
Several people hoped to remind Fan by tagging him in the comment section, but Jia said her husband hardly looked at her Weibo posts. Fan’s last post on the microblogging platform was on Dec 2.
Jia was formerly with Hong Kong broadcaster TVB, but she cut down on her acting commitments after marriage.
Fan is known for playing martial artist and reformed outlaw Kam Shan Chau in the first two Ip Man movies (2008 and 2010). The role garnered him a Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Hong Kong Film Awards in 2009.
Fan sparked a scare on Jan 1, 2023, when he shared Jia’s Weibo post celebrating their seventh wedding anniversary, writing: “We are heading for a divorce.”
He edited it to just one word “We” one minute later, before changing the post to: “Let’s move somewhere else where it’s not cold in winter.”
The actor clarified on Weibo the next day that he meant to type “likai (leave this place)” instead of “lihun (divorce)”, but he mistyped as he was recovering from Covid-19 and his two daughters were making a din.
In November 2024, Jia said on social media that she had been engaged in a “cold war” with Fan for two weeks. However, they appeared together for their elder daughter’s seventh birthday later that month. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
