Despite their efforts to make ends meet, Hong Kong singer Steven Cheung and his wife Au Yin Man continue to face financial hardships.
In recent months, Cheung, 40, has taken on various jobs, including cable wiring, construction work and distributing fliers and condoms to support his family of six.
The scandal-plagued star, who was part of the Cantopop duo Boyz, even turned to online crowdfunding last March and was seen working at a snack shop in July.
In a recent Instagram update, Au, who married Cheung in 2019, voiced her frustration and concern over their inability to repay their mounting debts.
She added that while they had received help from others in the beginning, everyone is now relentlessly pursuing repayment.
“I thought that things would get better by working hard and making changes, but it hasn’t. It feels like life is playing a cruel joke on me.
“I’m out of work, one child after another falls sick, and life hasn’t changed. It’s difficult – no milk powder or food. How am I supposed to repay anything?” the 32-year-old lamented.
Au clarified that her inability to repay is not due to unwillingness, but rather because she’s genuinely unable to do so.
“I can’t think of a way out. Of course, if you borrow, you should repay, but I really have nothing left. I have to take care of four kids and can’t even leave the house,” she said.
Cheung and Au, who are constantly making headlines for their bickering and tumultuous relationship, share four sons – aged between one and five.
In 2019, Cheung faced heavy scrutiny following a cheating scandal involving four women, including Hong Kong actress April Leung. The singer has since been struggling to land performance opportunities.
