This is Elvin Ng as his fans have never seen him.

The Singaporean actor, who is starring in Mediacorp’s upcoming TV series The Spirit Hunter, posted on Instagram on Jan 13 his look for the fantasy drama.

“My first #Evil role, as a monk with black magic and hypnotic powers, and it’s a wrap,” the 44-year-old wrote.

“Think I secretly, or maybe not so secretly, enjoy being this crazy, perverse, defiant, sarcastic person who refuses to be governed by rules and who’s out to break boundaries, this #clown, #joker of a character (oh, and there’s a #halfface too).”

Ng, who had his first major role in the TV series A Life Of Hope (2005), included in the post a photo of his face, with one side normal and the other half looking wrinkled and older.

“Thank you also to sensitive, organic directing, a great crew, wonderful wardrobe, hair and make-up for everything to fall into place,” he wrote. “It’s been crazy fun while it lasted, and I have a feeling it might probably be here to stay.”

The actor also shared a video of him removing the make-up, writing on Instagram Stories: “3hr make-up, 12hr shoot, more pain removing glue & make-up, end product – a wrinkled up face. Any skincare endorsements?”

The Spirit Hunter, which is scheduled to premiere in July, also stars Richie Koh, Hong Ling, Ferlyn G, Qi Yuwu, Roy Li, Herman Keh and Tyler Ten. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
