Hong Kong-based Malaysian actress Lisa Ch’ng is standing by her friend Philip Lee, the husband of former TVB star Myolie Wu, after he was seen hugging several women at a pub.

In a recent interview with Hong Kong media, Ch’ng, 38, shared that she has known Lee for many years and emphasised that his behaviour was not inappropriate.

“He grew up in the UK and gets very enthusiastic when he meets friends. This is simply how he expresses his affection – it’s the same for both men and women,” she said.

According to Hong Kong magazine Eastweek, Lee was seen “behaving intimately” with a few women at his 52nd birthday party.

Footage from the event showed the businessman hugging multiple women closely and posing for a photo with one, placing his hand on her shoulder.

The publication also noted that Wu, 45, was absent from the party, which was attended by over 20 guests.

On March 19, Lee took to Instagram to dispel rumours of infidelity, saying that he’s a “big hugger” and that photo angles can be “very misleading”.

While Wu has not publicly commented on the matter, she did show her support by liking her husband’s post.

When asked about Lee’s self-description as a “big hugger”, Ch’ng, who’s in a relationship with Hong Kong actor Mat Yeung, said: “This description is accurate.”

The TVB star also made it clear that Lee is extremely loyal to Wu, who fully trusts her husband and is aware of his whereabouts.

Wu and Lee tied the knot in 2015, a little over a year after they started dating. The couple shares three sons.
