Man Of Steel
The most interesting thing about the Superman story is his human alter-ego, Clark Kent. As both boy and man – blessed or burdened with an inherently good heart – he has always struggled with his alien origin and desperate need to belong. In this Zack Snyder film, these aspects are touched upon both in flashbacks to his younger days in Smallville – allowing us to get to know Pa and Ma Kent – and his search for his identity as an adult. The movie also digs deeper into the history of Krypton, adding a new layer to the doomed planet and its people (the characters of Jor-El and General Zod really benefit from this). But the main focus of the film is obviously the man in the suit, and, phew, Henry Cavill does a great job both in and out of it.
