Lucky to love and be loved by her dogs

Soo Wai Leng remembers the very first dog she ever had as a pet. She was just 11, in Year Five at primary school, and one of her sisters brought home a little black puppy.

“That was our family’s first pet dog. We named him Kopi but, sadly, we were forced to put him to sleep after he was seriously injured. I was very sad for awhile but two years later, another dog wandered into our home. It was a female dog and she was badly injured. It looked as if someone may have used a very sharp object to poke her near the stomach area. This left her with a big hole, and there were lots of worms in the wound. I begged my parents to keep her and I nursed her back to health. We named her Lucky,” shares Soo.
