Starchild: How Malaysian kids pay tribute to their dads on Fathers Day

Asher Wang Qi Chuen, 5

Fathers Day is a special occasion that honours the wonderful dads in our lives. It's a day when we express our love, gratitude, and appreciation for all the things our fathers do for us.

Fathers play a vital role in our lives. They nurture and teach us and can also be our best friends. They work hard, offer us guidance, and make us feel loved. Dads are superheroes who are always there to cheer us on. Fathers Day gives us the opportunity to recognise their efforts.

Fathers Day is not just about gifts; it's about expressing our gratitude. We can tell our dads how much we appreciate them by saying "thank you" and letting them know how they have made a positive impact on our lives.

Let's make this day unforgettable by showering them with love and appreciation.

We received overwhelming response on the topic, Fathers Day. Here are the first batch of letters from our young readers. We will publish the second batch next week.

Seven-year-old Chuah Seng Koon plans to be extra hardworking on Fathers Day. “I will help out with household chores. I will also do my best to make it the ‘bestest’ Fathers Day for him. I will buy some apples and oranges for him on this special occasion. To keep it a surprise, I will give him a small red packet on the eve of Fathers Day. However I guess, the best gift he would prefer from me would be my handmade Fathers Day card. Happy Fathers Day to all The Star readers.”

“I really like my dad because he is always teaching me many valuable things. I am grateful to my dad because he cares so much for me. I am also glad to know that he works so hard for the family,” writes Reynn Wong, 11.

Five-year-old Asher Wang Qi Chuen love his father dad because he is hardworking and takes good care of the family. “He can cook and he can fix most things that are broken in the house. He takes time to play ball with me and teaches me chess. We both enjoy drinking cold Milo at the mamak stall on a hot day.”
